And He Walks With Me

Several years ago, a friend shared on Facebook about his effort to read through the Bible, recording his thoughts and prayers for his kids. Almost immediately, I ordered a notetaking Bible for each of my kids and started a similar project. Those handwritten notes belong to my kids forever, but as I wrote, I thought it would be good to do something similar for the congregation I love and anyone else who might be interested. At the same time, I found that one of my favorite Bible commentary series was ended before completing the entire Bible. Thus, I resolved that, when I finished the kids’ Bibles, I would begin again working through the Bible and recording my thoughts and observations.

And He Walks With Me is not really a Bible commentary, though it will at times read as one. Neither is it a study Bible, though the format has been largely inspired by the myriad study Bibles in my library. It is simply a record of how my mind explores and processes Scriptures.

Along the way, I have attempted to document the various reference materials that I have consulted. My hope is that readers will begin to understand the different resources that they may utilize to better understand the Bible.

It is my earnest prayer that, first and foremost, the words of my mouth (or, in this case, fingers) and the meditation of my heart would be pleasing and acceptable to the Lord, and then that it may be edifying to the saints.
